Support for Caregivers
"There are no mistakes, no coincidences. All events are blessings given to us to learn from."
~ Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
For the most part, families are the primary source of help to people with long-term care needs like stroke survivors, those with dementia and those with conditions that lead to fragility. Without caregivers, many people would either be in institutions or would live in isolation.
If you are a family caregiver, or anticipate becoming one, we’re here to help you. We know that care giving 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is hard. Because most family caregivers have minimal training and very little support, the issues that have to be confronted on a daily basis can cause helpers to feel alone, drained and downhearted.
The bottom line is that caregivers need respite. Our adult day service, Time Together, provides relief 4 hours every day (Monday through Friday) while your loved one is enjoying community time with others at Bayview Senior Center. We offer ongoing support groups for individuals caring for people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as Parkinson’s. We provide a lending library of information and hold educational workshops twice monthly.
You are not alone. Call us. We can help.
We offer free caregiver’s workshops that provide education, support and training. Workshops are offered Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Our regular Support Groups meet as follows:
- Alzheimer’s/Dementia Group: First and third Tuesdays of the month
- Parkingson’s: Second Tuesday of the month
